The holidays are often a social time, and you want to be at your best. Bad breath is not a good thing to have at Christmas time, nor at any time of the year.
Not only can having bad breath be very embarrassing, it can also be indicative of serious oral health problems. Bad breath (also termed “halitosis”), could be caused by periodontal disease or tooth decay.
Digging into dishes that are heavy on the garlic and onion, drinking coffee and smoking can also contribute to bad odours, especially if your oral hygiene isn’t up to scratch.
If bad breath is something that is a challenge for you, you’ll need to work hard on your oral hygiene. Be sure to brush well every morning and night, and clean between your teeth every day using floss or interdental brushes. It’s also important to clean your tongue, because this is often the place where bacteria causing the odour sit undisturbed.
If you notice your bad breath worsening, it may be time to visit your dentist for help.
