[Series] Dental Resolutions For The New Year – Resolution #6
In order to keep a vehicle running smoothly, most people make sure to change the oil and check the fluids regularly. Maintaining good dental health requires a similar commitment to regular care. If you want to maintain good oral health, it is recommended to visit your dentist regularly for check-ups and cleanings.
During a check-up appointment, your dentist examines your mouth, jaws, teeth and gums. This thorough examination identifies any existing or potential problems. In turn, this can assist you to prevent dental disease or intervene before further damage, decay and disease occurs.
If you have children, they not only need to be seen regularly to check for decay, but also to make sure their bite is developing correctly. These are things that, if not monitored and corrected early on, may lead to much more difficult problems down the road.
Get into the habit of visiting the dentist every 6 months or however often your dentist has recommended. It is a good idea to schedule your next exam and cleaning right there in the office before you leave. This means you won’t forget your next appointment! If you have children, this sets a great example. In this way, you’ll teach them exactly how important regular dental visits are. After all…A healthy mouth is a happy mouth!
